Brett Johnson Named Preseason All-CAA

James Madison baseball's Brett Johnson of Charlottesville was selected to the Preseason All-Colonial Athletic Association Team, the league announced Wednesday.

JMU was picked to finish sixth in a poll of the league's nine coaches.

In 2016, his first season at the helm of JMU, Head Coach Marlin Ikenberry led the Dukes to a 24-31 record, a six-win improvement over the previous season. After being picked to finish seventh, JMU went 13-11 in CAA play to finish fourth in the conference and won its first CAA Tournament game since 2013. JMU opens up the 2017 season with a weekend tournament in Conway, S.C. from Feb. 17-19 that includes a date with reigning national champion Coastal Carolina on Feb. 19 at 1 p.m.
