2017 Mar 1

James Madison junior midfielder Haley Warden was recognized amongst the best women's lacrosse players in the nation Tuesday night, as she was named to the Watch List for the 17th annual Tewaaraton Award, presented by Under Armour.

The Tewaaraton Award is presented each year to the top male and female college lacrosse players in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed every year by The Tewaaraton Foundation.

The Glen Mills native is one of two Colonial Athletic Association players to earn a spot on the women's list, which is comprised of the top-50 women's lacrosse players nationally. She was joined by Towson midfielder Kaitlyn Montalbano.

Through five games this season, Warden has scored 11 points off seven goals and four assists. She leads the Dukes with 22 draw controls and 12 caused turnovers, and is also second with 11 ground balls. Warden leads the CAA in draw controls per game (4.4) and is third in caused turnovers per game (2.4).

Last season, Warden was a Second Team All-CAA selection after scoring 19 goals and 11 assists for 30 points. She ranked third in the league in draw controls per game (2.6). Warden led the team in ground balls (33) and caused turnovers (19) while ranking second in draws (52).
