Megan Good of Mount Sidney Earns Seventh CAA Pitcher of the Week Honor

2017 May 1

Behind a 5-0 week of the diamond that help No. 14/15 James Madison softball clinch the Colonial Athletic Association regular-season title, junior Megan Good was named CAA Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Good has racked up a total of nine weekly honors from the conference after snagging her seventh pitching accolade over her junior campaign.

Extending its win streak to 13 consecutive games, JMU went undefeated on the diamond with a doubleheader sweep of (RV) North Carolina before tallying a series sweep over Drexel to clinch the No. 1 seed at the CAA Softball Championship.

Good notched three victories in the circle to improve to 31-1 on the year, the second-most wins in a single season at JMU. Over 19.0 innings of work, the right-hander allowed just two earned runs off 13 hits and three walks for a 0.74 ERA. Good tossed a 3-0 shutout against Drexel to open the series before combining with Alexander to blank the Dragons 10-0. Good recorded 23 strikeouts and held opponents to a .191 average.

At the plate, Good held a .333 average over the five-game slate as she knocked five hits, including a double and three home runs for a 1.000 slugging percentage. She led the team with five RBIs while also scoring three runs.

Blanking opponents in four of the five contests over the week, JMU brought its season total to 24, the most in a single-season in program history. As a staff, JMU holds a 1.35 ERA.

JMU closes out the regular season with a three-game slate against Elon. The series begins on Friday, May 5 with a doubleheader at 2:30 p.m. The series finale is set for "Senior Day" on Saturday, May 6. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
