Megan Good of Mount Sidney Earns Sixth CAA Pitcher of the Week Accolade

2017 Apr 10

With a record-breaking performance in the circle over No. 14/13 James Madison's 4-1 week on the diamond, junior Megan Good was selected as Colonial Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday.

The selection marks the sixth weekly pitching accolade of the season for Good and the 12th time over her career that she has been honored with the award. The award comes after JMU split a doubleheader with in-state foe Virginia before sweeping a conference series against Towson.

The right-hander started four of JMU's five contests in the circle and notched three victories to improve to 24-1 over the season, which is tied for the third-most wins over a single-season in program history.

Over 20 innings of work, Good allowed just one earned run off seven hits and three walks while striking out 19. She held opponents to a .106 average at the plate while amassing a 0.35 ERA over the week.

Her lone complete game made JMU history as Good helped the Dukes to a 9-1 victory over Virginia to notch her 83rd career victory, breaking Jailyn Ford's school record of 82. Good now ranks second all-time in CAA history to just Hofstra's Olivia Galati (2010-13) who notched 129 victories over her career.

Good was just as dominate at the plate, knocking a team-high 12 hits for a .600 batting average over the five-game span. Slugging at a .750 clip, Good tallied three doubles for six RBIs while scoring six runs.

JMU improved to 34-6 overall while sitting second in the CAA standings with a 7-2 league record. UNCW leads the league with a 7-1 record in conference play. The Dukes fell five spots to No. 20 in Monday's NCAA RPI rankings.

The Dukes remain on the road this week for their final CAA series away from the friendly confines of Veterans Memorial Park. JMU will trek to Newark, Del., to face the Blue Hens in a three-game series, which beings on Friday, April 14 with a doubleheader slated for 3 p.m. The series finale is scheduled for Saturday, April 15 at noon.
