2017 Mar 13

Impressive performances at the plate and in the pitching circle to help No. 13/14 James Madison softball to an undefeated weekend and a 21-3 overall record was rewarded as Megan Good of Mount Sidney was selected as Colonial Athletic Association Co-Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

This is the first player of the week nod of Good's career and the fifth consecutive week she has received a weekly honor from the CAA. She opened the season with four consecutive pitcher of the week honors.

Good led the Dukes at the plate going 8-for-15 for a .533 average while scoring a team-high eight runs. The junior added a double and a home run to slug at a .800 clip with a team-best nine RBIs, including the game-winning RBIs in JMU's 9-1 victory over UCF and 12-1 triumph at East Carolina. She became the second Duke this season to drive in five runs over a single game after a 3-for-4 day at the plate at ECU on March 10. With four walks, Good held a .632 on-base percentage over the five-game slate.

In the circle, the right-hander earned three victories to improve to 14-0 on the season. Over 18.0 innings, Good allowed one run off seven hits and two walks while fanning 23 batters to hold opponents to a .117 average. Her scoreless inning streak came to a close after an astonishing 70.1 consecutive innings. Good leads the country with nine shutouts while ranking second in ERA (0.23), hits allowed per seven innings (2.33) and victories and fourth in strikeouts (126).

Due to inclement weather, JMU's midweek doubleheader against Virginia originally scheduled for Wednesday, March 15 has been postponed until April 4. The Dukes continue their road stretch with their final nonconference tournament this weekend at the Maryland Invitational. JMU opens the tournament on Saturday, March 18 at 10 a.m. against Binghamton before facing Buffalo at 3 p.m. The Dukes face the host Terrapins on Sunday, March 19 at 4 p.m.
