Megan Good of Mount Sidney Named ECAC Player of the Year

2017 Jul 6

James Madison's junior pitcher/utility player Megan Good was selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year.

The honor is the third major award for Good this season as became the first student-athlete in Colonial Athletic Association history to ever win Pitcher and Player of the Year in the same season. Earlier this week, Good was also named one of three finalist for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year. This is third consecutive season Good has been selected as the ECAC's Pitcher of the Year.

Good leads the nation with a 38-3 record in the circle, setting JMU's single-season wins record. She has also tallied a nation-best 14 shutouts, which helped JMU to a program-high 28 shutouts over the 2017 season. Her 0.63 ERA is a JMU single-season low and is also the third-lowest mark in all of Division I softball. Her ERA was helped by a scoreless inning streak of 70.1 innings, the 11th-longest streak in NCAA history and the longest streak by any player since 2009. Over 244.2 innings of work, Good has allowed just 22 earned runs off 125 hits and 35 walks while striking out a staggering 271 batters.

Dangerous on both sides of the ball, Good also led JMU at the plate with a .383 average with a career-best 69 hits. She led the CAA with 58 RBIs, the third-most over a single season in JMU history. She also led the Dukes with 17 multi-RBI games while closing the season with 19 multi-hit outings. She's knocked 11 doubles and a team-high 12 home runs for a .644 slugging percentage, the second-highest mark in the conference. Aided by 28 walks, Good closed the year with a .464 on-base percentage.
