Megan Good of Mount Sidney Wins Fourth Straight CAA Pitcher of the Week Honors

2017 Mar 7

After a 4-1 weekend at the Diamond 9 Citrus Classic to help the Dukes improve to 16-3, No. 13 James Madison softball's Megan Good was named Colonial Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

The honor is the 10th of Good's career and marks the fourth consecutive week she has been honored as the conference's top pitcher.

Good went undefeated in the circle with three shutouts to improve to 11-0 on the season. In 21.0 innings pitch, the junior allowed just six hits and three walks while striking out 25 to hold opponents to a .085 average. Good recorded her 500th career strikeout against (RV) South Alabama to become just the third Duke in program history to ever eclipse the mark. At the plate, Good was 6-for- 14 (.429) with two doubles, three RBIs and three runs scored.

The weekend was highlighted by Good's first no-hitter of the season and the third of her career when she blanked (RV) South Alabama 4-0. She followed the performance holding Boston College to just one hit in a 1-0 victory. Good has now recorded more career no-hitters (3) than runs allowed over her junior season (2).

Good has now made eight straight shutout appearances to bring her scoreless streak to 53.2 consecutive innings. Nationally, Good leads the country in shutouts (8) while ranking second in victories (11) and hits allowed per seven innings (2.24), fourth in ERA (0.19) and sixth in strikeouts (103)
