2017 Feb 6

James Madison softball's Megan Good was selected to the Top 50 "Watch List" for the 2017 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award as announced by USA Softball.

Entering its 16th season, the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award recognizes outstanding athletic achievement by Division I collegiate student-athletes across the country. It is awarded by the national governing body for softball in the United States and is one of the most prestigious individual honors in all of NCAA Division I softball.

The preseason "Watch List" includes 26 seniors, 18 juniors and six sophomores representing 37 universities and 13 athletic conferences. The selection marks the second consecutive season that Good has been tabbed to the preseason "Watch List." She has been a finalist for the award as both a freshman and a sophomore finishing in the Top 25 and Top 10, respectively. She is the only representative for the Colonial Athletic Association on the 2017 preseason list.

Good enters her junior season as a two-time NFCA All-American and a two-time CAA Pitcher of the Year. She broke four JMU single-season records over her sophomore season, which included wins (32), shutouts (10), ERA (0.94) and opposing batting average (.151). She ranked second nationally with her 32 wins while ranking fourth in ERA and hits allowed per seven innings (3.7) and sixth in shutouts. She also led the CAA in ERA, opposing batting average, innings pitched (215.2), strikeouts (222), appearances (41) and starts (32). In the batter's box, Good recorded 54 hits for a .307 average, tallying nine doubles, two triples and seven home runs. She drove home 29 RBIs while scoring 27 runs.

The Mount Sidney, Va. native capped off her sophomore season tossing the second perfect game in program history in an 8-0 victory over Drexel on April 17, 2016. She helped James Madison to a program-best 50 wins, while leading the Dukes to their first ever Super Regional appearance. Good enters her junior season as the NCAA's active career leader with a 0.99 ERA.

The Top 25 finalists for the 2017 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award will be announced April 12. The Top 10 finalists will be announced May 10 before being narrowed down to the Top 3 on May 24. The 2017 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will be revealed on May 30.
